Gardette boosts its European presence with the addition of Mein

The acquisition of the Spanish company Mecanizados Mein marks a major turning point in the industrial and international momentum of the Groupe Gardette. By integrating this long-standing partner based in Eibar, our group strengthens its position as a leading European manufacturer and becomes one of the few players capable of mastering the entire spectrum of fastening parts: from prismatic (keys and custom profiles) to special cylindrical (cylindrical and tapered pins in small and medium batches).
This second location in Spain perfects our vertical integration model, from cold drawing of raw materials to high-precision finishing, providing a sovereign and highly responsive solution for the most demanding sectors: automotive, rail, defense, nuclear, and energy. With Mecanizados Mein, Groupe Gardette secures strategic supplies for its European clients in the face of global uncertainty.

The Gardette Group strengthens its European presence with the acquisition of Mecanizados Mein in Spain
The result of a long-standing historical partnership, this strategic merger with Mecanizados Mein marks a major milestone in the Gardette Group's development. By integrating the last European manufacturer specializing in custom pins for small and medium production runs, our group consolidates its industrial sovereignty and expands its range of precision mechanical fasteners for the most demanding sectors.
From long-standing trust to strategic alliance
The history between Gardette Industries, Gardette Spécialfix and Mecanizados Mein goes back a long way. Based in Eibar, in the heart of the Spanish Basque Country's metallurgical hub, the company has maintained a trusted technical and commercial partnership with our teams for many years.
Given the evolution of global markets and the need to secure local supply chains within Europe, transforming this partnership into an acquisition was the logical next step.
Following the creation of our commercial subsidiary Spécialfix in Barcelona in 2011, this acquisition represents our second industrial and strategic site and our first pin manufacturing plant in Spain, thereby strengthening our reach across the entire Iberian Peninsula and the European continent.
Unique technical synergy: cylindrical and prismatic, pins and keys
This operation combines two rare and perfectly complementary industrial areas of expertise:
- The hyper-specialization of Mecanizados Mein: positioned in a high-value-added niche, the Eibar plant is the last European specialist capable of machining pins special (cylindrical and tapered) in small and medium quantities. The company excels in working with special materials, complex shapes, and non-standard, very large components.
- A highly responsive production facility: thanks to a machine park tailored for small batches and its integrated grinding service (in-house), Mein controls the entire geometric chain for cylindrical and tapered parts, ensuring record production times for custom work.
- Synergy with the Gardette Group: while our historic plants handle mass production (such as LGC and its grooved pins at high speeds) and the machining of prismatic parts (custom keys and profiles at Gardette in Villefranche and Villars), Mecanizados Mein provides the custom flexibility needed for specific projects.
The Gardette Group now covers the entire spectrum of mechanical assembly: from prototypes to large-scale production, from prismatic parts to cylindrical components with micrometric precision.
Meeting the demands of cutting-edge industries
In a global context where precision mechanics specialists are becoming increasingly scarce, this partnership offers a robust solution for our clients in strategic industries: automotive, rail, defense, nuclear, aerospace, and energy.
These sectors, subject to stringent specifications, regularly require spare parts, maintenance runs, or specific low-volume components. Thanks to Mecanizados Mein's integrated process, we provide a sovereign, traceable solution that is free from the risks associated with non-European supply chains.
Operational continuity and future investments
The transaction is accompanied by a major investment plan, covering both production facilities and human capital. To accelerate the operational integration of MEIN, the French and Iberian teams are working in close collaboration.
This partnership now draws on two strategic sites in Spain: Catalonia and, more recently, the Basque area, to provide local support to Spain’s rapidly growing markets, such as energy, rail and mobility...
For our clients and partners, this merger is built on stability and a commitment to enhanced service quality:
- Brand and teams preserved: the company retains its commercial identity Mecanizados Mein. Your usual points of contact remain unchanged, starting with Eduardo Gutiérrez, who continues to manage the site with the same rigor.
- Contact details unchanged: administrative and banking information remains the same.
- Strengthened sales force: in the coming months, a dedicated group sales team, based between Barcelona and Eibar, will bolster the support provided to our clients in the field.
- Investment plan: the Gardette Group will commit significant financial and human resources to the Eibar site to modernize industrial equipment and expand production capacity.
By joining forces with Mecanizados Mein, we reaffirm our ambition: to be your premier European partner for all your mechanical assembly solutions, from standard connections to the most complex designs.
