Grinding is a finishing machining operation that involves removing a very thin layer of material from a mechanical part in order to achieve perfect geometry and an optimal surface finish. This process, often used after turning or milling, allows micron tolerances and high consistency across all parts to be achieved.

At Gardette Industries, grinding is carried out exclusively on steel and stainless steel parts.

Grinding systems

In the grinding process, our grinding machines play an essential role in ensuring perfectly polished and uniform surfaces. These machines enable the precise removal of a thin layer of material and achieve an optimal finish quality, which is essential for parts that must meet micron-level tolerances.

‍In our factory, we use two types of grinding machines to meet the specific needs of steel and stainless steel parts:‍

  1. Flat grinding machines (12 machines): these machines grind a single flat surface, ideal for parts requiring flawless flatness and finish on one side.
  2. Double-sided grinding machine: this unique machine can simultaneously grind two opposite surfaces, optimizing precision and productivity for parts requiring perfect uniformity on both sides.

Our experience

Thanks to our grinding machines, each part benefits from extremely precise tolerances of up to ± 0.005 mm, and we can grind parts up to 2 meters long.

At the end of this grinding process, we obtain parts that are ready for use, whether they are standard parts such as woodruff keys or parts manufactured according to specific plans, perfectly adapted to our customers' needs.

This high level of precision and finish ensures not only dimensional conformity, but also the durability and performance of the components in their final applications.

Perfecting every part

In industrial environments where reliability and precision are essential, every detail counts. Flat and double-sided grinding is a strategic step in ensuring the conformity and performance of steel or stainless steel parts. By removing even the slightest irregularities, this finishing process ensures dimensional stability and optimal assembly quality, which are essential in highly demanding production lines.

This mastery of grinding makes it possible to secure your industrial processes, improve component longevity, and reduce the risks associated with machining defects.

Concrete applications of grinding

Grinding plays a key role in the manufacture of high-precision mechanical parts for sectors where reliability and compliance are essential. This step ensures strict dimensional tolerances and consistent quality, which are essential in fields such as automotive, aerospace, defense, energy, petrochemicals, and mechanical engineering.

At Gardette Industries, our expertise in grinding ensures that each part meets the exact requirements of its application.

Frequently asked questions about grinding

How does grinding affect the service life of parts?‍

By eliminating irregularities and ensuring a perfectly flat surface, grinding reduces wear, improves component fit, and extends the service life of parts in industrial applications.

Can parts be ground to order according to a specific plan?

Yes, our processes allow us to grind standard parts as well as parts manufactured according to your plans, ensuring maximum precision even for complex or long parts.

What are the advantages of grinding steel and stainless steel over other materials?

Grinding steel and stainless steel achieves superior flatness and precision, which are necessary for critical parts, and offers better resistance to wear and corrosion, qualities that are essential for many industrial sectors.
