What is a reported fillet?

An attached net, also known as a helicoil, is an essential device for professionals. It is used to repair or reinforce damaged or worn threads in materials such as metal or plastic. It acts directly on the solidity of the tapping and of your assembly by compressing perfectly when it is installed in the receiving threads of the tapped part.

An added thread makes it possible to create stronger threads in new materials. This tool is very useful in the field of mechanics, the automotive industry, aeronautics and many other fields requiring the assembly of mechanical parts.

The helicoil thread is a precious device available in 304 stainless steel, this threaded insert in the form of a spring is inserted into a previously tapped hole, thus forming an internal thread.

With its outer diameter larger than that of the original hole, it effectively reinforces the thread. Once in place, the added thread offers a new and wear-resistant thread, capable of accommodating a bolt or a screw.

They are most often used in materials with low shear strength, such as aluminum or aluminum and magnesium alloys.

In addition, the helicoil net allows you to:

  • Repair damaged threads easily and quickly
  • Reinforce taps in delicate materials
  • Enjoy optimal resistance to corrosion and extreme temperatures.

The helicoil thread can be available in several threads (metric, UNC, UNF, BSF) that you can find in the form of various kits.

In the Gardette Industries catalog, you can immediately find a selection of standard thread inserts And Fine thread count.

Why use an attached net?

  • To increase the strength of its assemblies: stainless steel with a tensile strength of 1400N/mm²
  • To save damaged or torn taps
  • In order to obtain a good surface condition in materials that are difficult to tap
  • To have a better distribution of forces thanks to its flexibility
  • To be compatible with other manufacturers using the standard DIN 8140 & DIN 65536, LN 9590, LN 9499, NASM 21209
  • And protect its assemblies against corrosion and wear

All our added nets are available in

  • A wide selection of thread diameters, allowing for use in a variety of thread repair applications.
  • Various thread types, such as metric thread with standard pitch and fine pitch, as well as UNC, UNF, UNEF, and UNS threads.
  • Several materials to reinforce taps, including stainless steel and bronze.

How do I insert a net attached?

Setting up a net is both simple and economical, because you just need to follow a few basic rules. For a controlled installation, whether in small, medium or large series, we provide you with a wide range of manual and automatic tools for installing your nets.

Step one: drilling the pilot hole

For drilling, feel free to use a high quality standard twist drill. Before starting, remember to chamfer at 90° and deburring the surface carefully for optimal preparation.

Second step: tapping

To create the thread thread thread, we recommend using specific taps that will be adapted to the system and the thread.

Thanks to our push-back tapping system, you can get a perfectly clean thread, without any chips.

Last step: the installation of the net

You can perform the pose using a manual installation tool, or an automatic installation tool.

To remove your nets, we have a dedicated tool Filet extraction system reported.
